Styles you're most comfortable in

As everybody knows, there are lots of different sub-styles (or sub-genres, as I like to call them) of Lolita - Punk, Gothic, Sweet, White, Black, Classic, Princess, Country, Guro (I'm sure I'm missing some)...and we mustn't forget Aristocrat, Dandy and Kodona!

So, my question is, which of these sub-genres are you most comfortable in? Which make you cringe at the thought of wearing them, and why?

For me, I'm most comfortable in Punk Lolita - mostly because it's on the casual side, and I can fly under the radar (as it were) if I want to while still being recognizable as a Lolita to those who know the fashion. After that, I'm most comfortable in Classic Lolita, because I feel it captures the "Lolita spirit" while still being a little toned down.

Most uncomfortable? Certainly Sweet Lolita! I'm awestruck by Lolis who have the confidence and poise to wear the beautiful and adorable stylings of Sweet Lolita out in the open, and I really hope to be like them someday. But, for now, I can hardly imagine wearing a headdress outside, never mind all those fabulous ruffles!

I agree with the sweet lolita. I would really like to try it, too, but some of the headdresses are so elaborate and frilly!! It's not that I'm embarassed, I just don't want to attract the *wrong* sort of attention, you know? Same with gurololi *sad*

I think I'm most comfortable in gothic and classic. It's more "normal" yet still lolita....but I'm also wanting/trying to stretch my shell a little too.

I have no problem wearing Sweet Loli in darker colours... er, meaning it's not really Gothic, or Punk Loli. Like wearing one of the classical Baby dresses in black (the one with pockets, ya' know?), or their pinkXblack tartan. I also wear a lot of Meta red plaid items. And then tons of JSKs with prints on them... but with a dark base colour. You know cute, but not sugary. I'm afraid of pastely Sweet Loli on me. T_T

I see Gothic to be more Motie style with crosses and well, more of an elegant look (so in my eyes I'm not GothLoli). And Punk Loli is something I can totally feel comfortable in but it's very hard to pull off. Either you end up looking too Western Goth, or just plain "casual" Lolita as people call it. Putting on a plaid skirt doesn't make it Punk Loli, it's so much more than that. It's really rather intricate.

And I freaking love Pirate Loli. But def don't feel comforatble in it all the time 'cause that's another hard one to pull off. D:

Punk Loli or Ero Loli. I'm rather casual, I love leather, chains and odd patterns. And Ero Loli would just suit my personality. But I'm not all that strict on style. I tend to take things from Lolita dress and match them with more casual wear.

I really can't pull off Sweet Loli. I don't like too much frills, I also think it's really doesn't suit me at all bodywise and in personality. (I'd get the wolf in sheepscloth effect) I also think my tattoos wouldn't fit the Sweet style so I'd have to cover them up all the time (some Sweet lolis have beautiful tattoos but if they don't match your dressing style it's just ugly)

I'm most comfortable in country lolita, but I love classic lolita. I'm the least comfortable in gothic lolita, because I always get the 'wannabe' glares from people. >.<

I play a lot of folk music, so a lot people think that lolita is part of the look, because it has that 'not of this time' appearance. XD All the comments I've gotten have been pretty cute, when I'm carrying around my viola and weaaring lolita.

I love Dandies to death, and wish I could dress like one, (yes, I know it's not lolita) and I'd love to try some guro loli.

I only feel uncomfortable if I'm in a lolita outfit and I'm in black, I just don't suit it at all, really pale skin and bright blonde hair don't mix with it. Plus I really hate wearing black.

I feel the most comfortable in classic and maybe a bit of sweet, but I really want to try sailor because of F+F's summer sailor dress.

Well, I feel most normal in casual lolita -- but I'm personally the type to only wear casual and sweet. o(x_x)o

I feel best in punk and gothic lolita... as black is a sliming colour.. I love tartain, chains and edge alot too. But gothic is my fav :3 I want to get into waloli too.

I don't feel bad about wearing sweet lolita in public... you stand out but in a posative way.

The only lolita styles I'd NEVER wear are..

Pirate [I find it just plain UGLY]
Hime/Princess lolita [you'd look like a ginat marshmellow or too cosplay]

I wanna try shiro/white lolita but white's not a 'fatty-chan' colour I don't think... I'm also put off by erololi cus SOME of it looks a bit slutty if done wrng.

I guess casual lolita or classic when I do, on those rare occasions, dress up. I will pair a patterned skirt with a solid-colored top with little frills. Mostly, its because of my body type and I'd just feel to self-conscious at my age and size to wear an all over print.

I also admire the sweet lolitas. They are so adorable and those storybook jumpers BTSSB has had over the last few years are just too cute.
